Turkmenistan Outlaws Lip-Syncing

The AP reports that the president Saparmurat Niyazov of Turkmenistan is outlawing lip-syncing at all cultural events, concents, on television and at private celebrations, because of the "negative effect on the development of singing and musical art": The Globe and Mail: Lip synching so criminal, it's outlawed.

No word yet on whether Milli Vanilli will alter any reunion tour plans.

Milli Vanilli don't even exist anymore. One is dead (RIP) their career died years before that.

While I think it's ridiculous to make such a petty thing a crime, I think maybe it would prove useful in this country (no more Ashlee Simpson, etc.)
